TEFL II Course Description.
Subject: TEFL II (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)
Level: Third Year Fundamental English
Instructor: Wafa Ben Salah
General Course Objectives:
This course aims to provide students of Third Year Fundamental English with a consolidation in the field of TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). The main objective of the course is to deepen students’ knowledge of teaching approaches and techniques and to equip them with creativity and critical thinking skills in TEFL for the purpose of becoming a FUNCTIONAL EFL TEACHER.
Main Intended Outcomes: After the TEFL course completion, students will
• be familiar with the appropriate teaching techniques
• have basic competence in teaching the different language skills; namely, reading, writing, listening and communication skills.
Course Content:
-Introduction to TEFL II
-Reminder of the main Teaching Methods and Approaches (CLT and Eclecticism)
-Creating a Student-Centered Classroom: *The Role of the Teacher
*The Role of the Learner (learning styles)
-Classroom Interaction Patterns
-Teacher feedback
-Integration of Skills
-Teaching Language Skills: Communication Skills and Strategies
Listening Skills and Strategies
Reading Skills and Strategies
Writing Skills and Strategies
- Using Visual Aids and Technology in Teaching Skills
Course Requirements:
- Regular attendance.
- Participation in classroom activities in the form of Presentations and Assignments.
Course Evaluation:
* Participation in classroom activities and workshops. (10%)
- Research and personal work.
- Personal Presentations.
* Continuous assessment (20%)
* Final Test (70 %)
