TEFL I Course Description.
Subject: TEFL I (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)
Level: Second Year English for the Basic Education
Instructor: Wafa Ben Salah Jendoubi
General Course Objectives:
This course aims to introduce the students of Second Year English for the Basic Education to the field of TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). The main objective of the course is to provide them with basic knowledge of CLT teaching techniques and to equip them with creativity and critical thinking skills in TEFL.
Main Intended Outcomes: After the TEFL course completion, students will
• be familiar with the appropriate CLT techniques
• have basic competence in classroom management.
Course Content:
-Introduction to TEFL I
-Teaching Methods and Approaches: the CLT principles
-Creating a Student-Centered Classroom: *The Role of the Teacher
*The Role of the Learner (learning styles)
-Classroom management
-Classroom arrangement
-Positive discipline techniques
-Teaching skilled and less skilled learners
-Teaching learners having different disabilities
Course Requirements:
- Regular attendance.
- Participation in classroom activities in the form of Presentations and Assignments.
Course Evaluation:
- Continuous assessment (30%)
- Final Test (70 %)
