This English course which is designed for 3rd-year pre-service teachers currently studying at the ISEAHZ is meant to develop their 4 skills in the English language and to address specific problematic aspects of English vocabulary and grammar.

The course includes EIGHT lessons in total. Exercises are accompanied by key answers to encourage auto-assessment and foster autonomy. The syllabus can shortly be described as follows:

1) Lesson 1 (vocabulary): commonly confused words in English

a) Homonyms, homophones and homographs

b) False Friends

2) Lesson 2 (reading and writing): Reading with a focus on inferencing

a) Predict the future and finish the story

b) Make inferences out of textual and contextual clues 

3) Lesson 3 (writing): Ensuring coherence

a) Run-on sentences, fragments, and cohesive devices

4) Lesson 4: Watching & Read

Watch, Read and answer the questions

5) Lesson 5: Subject-verb agreement
